With one of Chicago’s harshest winters in full swing, potholes were on the minds of City Council Committee on Transportation and Public Way members Monday as they approved Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s appointment of Rebekah Scheinfeld as commissioner of the Chicago Department of Transportation.
Specifically, aldermen wanted to make sure Scheinfeld does not lose sight of necessary block-level repairs while undertaking the task of overseeing CDOT’s big-picture projects – the Divvy bike program, speed cameras, and construction of the Chicago Riverwalk.
