General Assembly approves 2016 comptroller election

The Illinois Legislature during a special session approved legislation requiring a special 2016 election for the position of state comptroller.

Members of the Illinois House voted 66-40 in favor of the bill on Thursday afternoon, Charles Thomas of ABC Chicago reported. The Illinois Senate earlier on Thursday passed the bill with a 37-15 vote.
