Cook County Health and Hospitals Chief Executive Officer Dr. John Jay Shannon on Monday said the Affordable Care Act has helped provide his system with the resources necessary to improve care and move to a patient-centered, anticipatory healthcare model.
While speaking at a City Club of Chicago event, Shannon said the implementation of the ACA has been a “game changer” for CCHHS. Pursuant to the ACA, the health system launched CountyCare in 2013. The no-cost managed care health plan has significantly reduced the number of uninsured patients CCHHS serves.
