PBC begins planning for South Side school parking lot

The Public Building Commission on Tuesday approved a request from Chicago’s Department of Housing and Economic Development to initiate planning for the Lindblom Math and Science Academy parking lot on the 6100 block of South Winchester Avenue.

Landmarks Commission gives final recommendation for Augustus Warner House

The Commission on Chicago Landmarks on Thursday unanimously approved recommending that the Augustus Warner House in the Gold Coast neighborhood be designated a Chicago landmark, sending the proposal to the City Council for consideration.

Constructed in 1884 and designed by architect Lawrence Gustav Hallberg, the three-story Tudor-style building at 1337 N. Dearborn Pkwy. currently houses four to five rental units, according to a representative for the building’s owner.

Medical District Commission approves 2014 budget

The Illinois Medical District Commission on Tuesday approved the district’s budget for the 2014 fiscal year.

IMDC Chief Financial Officer Kim Michael Lee gave the financial report summarizing next year’s proposed budget, which she said is projected to increase by 8 percent as a result of ongoing growth and development in the district. Lee noted that several of the new projects that are scheduled for completion in 2014 should lead to additional revenue for the 2015 fiscal year. Operation costs over the last year have been within normal fluctuations, the CFO added.
