CTA president says state budget impasse will not affect fare prices – for now

While speaking at the City Club of Chicago on Tuesday, Chicago Transit Authority President Dorval Carter declared bus and train fares will not increase next year despite the current state budget stalemate. He cautioned, however, that the CTA may have to “revisit” its spending plan if Springfield does not adopt plans to provide adequate transit funding  in the future.

Service groups call on state lawmakers to end budget stalemate, restore funding

Several human service groups rallied outside the James R. Thompson Center on Wednesday calling on Gov. Bruce Rauner and state legislators to end the budget stalemate and approve legislation restoring funding for key state services. The House Executive Committee is scheduled to vote on the measure Thursday to provide $3.8 billion in emergency funding for Illinois human service providers.

Joining the human service groups and advocates were state Reps. Will Guzzardi (D-Chicago) and Greg Harris (D-Chicago).
