The Regional Transit Authority will look into the causes of inefficiencies in its Metra rail system that arose during last week’s cold snap, officials said at the agency’s board meeting on Wednesday.
Commuters who use the rail line were subject to delays, cancellations and cramped cars in recent weeks when temperatures in the area dropped into negative numbers. The extreme weather caused widespread maintenance issues for the Metra system, which operates 241 stations on 11 lines in the Chicagoland region.
