CTA weary of ‘unfunded mandate’ for free or reduced fares

As the number of state-mandated free or reduced-fare rides on Chicago Transportation Authority trains and buses grows, CTA wants the Illinois Legislature to spend more money on the program.

In March, CTA passengers, including qualifying seniors and riders with disabilities, took 2.1 million more free or reduced rides than last March.
