New public defender calls fair bonding a top priority

Cook County’s new public defender, Amy Patton Campanelli, on Wednesday called for bonding policy reform at Cook County Jail.

The county board’s Legislation and Intergovernmental Relations Committee approved Campanelli’s six-year appointment to the post by voice vote on Wednesday, and the appointment later received approval from the full board. Campanelli is the second woman to serve as the county’s public defender
