Streeterville story. Streeterville Organization of Active Residents has teamed up with the Theatre-Hikes theater concept group to stage “Streeterville: The Play” later this month, according to DNAinfo Chicago. The play depicts the life and relationships of Captain George “Cap” Wellington Streeter, whose ship in 1886 ran aground in what is now the Streeterville neighborhood. The company uses a unique style: their plays are performed outdoors, and audiences travel “from scene to scene on foot along a naturalistic pathway.” Performances in Streeterville are scheduled for Sept. 22 and Sept. 28, but the exact venue has not yet been announced.

Teacher’s assistance. Dave Stieber, a Chicago Public Schools teacher and contributor to the Chicago-based news publication Gaper’s Block, provided an inside look on his life in the public school system in a Q&A segment Tuesday with The Guardian

Swim-spiration. Lake Forest College students discussed with NBC Chicago the inspiration they gained upon hearing of the historic 100-mile-plus swim from Cuba to Florida that 64-year-old Diana Nyad completed on Monday. Nyad is an alumna of Lake Forest College who swam for the school’s team, was a French and English double major, played on the tennis team and was involved in theater.

Pizza-palooza. Tessori, located at 65 E. Adams St. in the Loop, is serving up different specialty pizzas for each day of the month of October in honor of National Pizza Month.
