Sweet victory. Gov. Pat Quinn collected on his Stanley Cup bet with Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick Tuesday at the Greater Chicago Food Depository, a tweet from WBEZ political reporter Tony Arnold shows. The governors had agreed that the loser of their wager on the outcome of 2012-2013 NHL championship series would volunteer at a food bank of the victor’s choice.
Hot dog! Tuesday is National Hot Dog Day. In recognition of the special day, Chicagoist compiled a list of Chicago’s 13 best hot dogs.
Wipe out. The National Weather Service has advised beachgoers in Chicago to stay out of the water Tuesday and Wednesday. Acceding to an NWS warning, “unseasonably large waves” of 10 to 12 feet are expected on Lake Michigan through Wednesday afternoon, the Sun-Times Media Wire reported. “Occasional rogue waves” as large as 15 feet may also be seen.
Wedding bells. Former Illinois state Treasurer Alexi Giannoulias just got engaged to Jo Terlato, the daughter of Terlato Wine Group President and CEO Bill Terlato, according to Crain’s Chicago Business. Ms. Terlato is a manager of her family’s wine and spirits company and is a former Teach for America teacher.
