It’s not over yet

It’s not over yet – this weekend in Chicago there’s still more festivals to enjoy.

Scheduled in the city this weekend is: the Armitage Arts Festival on Saturday and Sunday at Segundo Ruiz Belvis Cultural Center, Weegee’s Lounge, Rosa’s Lounge and Mozart Park in Logan Square; the Shock Top Oyster Fest, Saturday at 2000 W. Roscoe St. in Lakeview; and the 9th Annual 79th Street Renaissance Festival, Saturday on 79th Street between Racine Avenue and Loomis Boulevard in Gresham.

Also this weekend

Also taking place this weekend in the city is Venetian Night, the Navy Pier boating event that mimics Venice boat parades.

Hosted by the Chicago Yachting Association, the event will feature light-adorned boats on Lake Michigan beginning at 8 p.m. on Saturday. At least 30 boats usually participate in the event, according to Chiff.com. A firework display is scheduled for 9:30 p.m.

Bike kind of town

Chicago was recently named the second-best biking city in the country by Bicycling Magazine.

The magazine credited Chicago’s planned $60 million Navy Pier flyover and Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s plan for 100 miles of new protected bike lanes by next year for the ranking, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. A “bike-share arms race with New York City” was also cited.

Chicago, bested only by New York in the ranking, was named No. 5 by the publication last year.

Bears team up

As the Chicago Bears host the Buffalo Bills at Soldier Field on Sunday for the Bears’ first game of the 2014-2015 NFL season, the organization will kick off 10 new partnerships with corporate sponsors.

The Bears have signed consumer electronics retailer HH Gregg Inc. and event planner Kapow Events as corporate partners, Crain’s Chicago Business reported. The team also has new deals with Hudsonville Ice Cream, Wendy’s, online ticket marketplace Vivid Seats Ltd., paint brand Rust-Oleum, Gillette, LifeSource, Spanish-language media company La Raza and promotional product distributor BDA Inc.
