Cool spaces

Crain’s Chicago Business released a video providing a look inside what it has dubbed “Chicago’s Coolest Offices 2013.” One common theme among the offices are open floor plans, which Crain’s said encourage collaboration among workers and eliminate office hierarchies. Architecture shots

Chicagoist on Tuesday published a photo gallery of images from the Chicago Architecture Foundation’s annual Open House Chicago event, which was held last weekend. Among the shots are images of the Emil Bach House from architect Frank Lloyd Wright, the 1871 tech incubator offices located in the Merchandise Mart and Goose Island Beer Company’s brewery.

Parking geek

DNAinfo Chicago has rolled out a new column entitled “Ask the parking ticket geek,” where the blogger behind the Chicago transportation blog The Expired Meter fields questions related to Chicago parking tickets. The name game

Alderman Proco “Joe” Moreno (1st) on Monday tweeted a link to an article from The Atlantic on popular names for American baby girls. The article features an animated GIF that Deadspin’s Reuben Fischer-Baum created using data from the Social Security Administration depicting the most popular female baby names, both nationally and by state, from 1960 until 2012. Some of the most popular names over the years: Lisa, Jennifer, Jessica, Ashley, Emily, Emma and most recently – Sophia.
