Lewis throws curveball. Chicago Teachers Union President Karen Lewis spent much of her City Club of Chicago speech on Tuesday talking baseball. Lewis dreamt as a child that she would be the first female pitcher in MLB history and described the Chicago Cubs blowing the 1969 National League East division title as one of the worst moments in her life. Lewis even inserted baseball into her discussion of school closings, claiming that no one ever wants to close Wrigley Field when the Cubs lose.

Scrape, scrape, scrape. With a July 15 deadline for Chicago motorists to place their new city stickers on their vehicles’ windshields, City Clerk Susanna Mendoza appeared in a video produced by local traffic blog The Expired Meter to demonstrate her foolproof method for removing last year’s stickers. What’s the best way to get the job done, according to Mendoza? It involves paper towels, a razor blade and Windex – lots of Windex.

Trump jump. Photos released by Chicago police show that the three men who allegedly parachuted from the roof of the 92-story Trump Tower shortly after midnight Thursday donned cameras on their heads to record the jump. Trump staff noticed early Thursday morning that the roof door’s padlock had been cut, and though the three could be seen on surveillance footage ascending the tower’s stairs equipped with backpacks, they were never seen coming back down the stairs. No arrests had been made as of Friday morning.

Farmville. Friday marks the first day of summer, and that can only mean one thing in Chicago: it’s time for street fests and farmers markets. To be sure that you don’t make any rotten picks this year, check out Chicago Magazine’s favorite farmers markets around town.
