Ryan, Romney catch up in Chicago

U.S. Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wisc.) joined Mitt Romney in Chicago Thursday night to discuss Ryan's new book, “The Way Forward: Renewing the American Idea.”

The Union League Club of Chicago event was the first time the two appeared together publicly since 2012 when Romney ran for president and Ryan was his vice president running mate, according to the Associated Press.

Ryan, who next year is expected to serve as chair of the Ways and Means Committee and could potentially run for president himself in 2016, “lays the policy-heavy groundwork for a presidential campaign” in the book, according to the AP.

Coverage from Progress Illinois showed protesters outside of the event chanting, "Ryan, you can't hide, we can see your greedy side."
