Matt Bailey resigned last week from his position as director of legislative affairs and communications for Alderman Joe Moreno (1st) and plans to move to the Marshall Islands.
Bailey, who served in Moreno’s office for seven years, will take his wife and two young children to the Marshall Islands later this month, according to DNAinfo.com. There, he plans to teach high school English and world history in the capital city of Majuro.
"I'm sure by pure convenience they'd rather me be there and wouldn't have to train anyone new,” Bailey said of the alderman’s staff, who are gearing up for a re-election bid. “But it will be good to have a change of pace. These past seven years are the longest I've spent anywhere."
Apart from dealing with everyday ward issues like rat abatement, tree removal and garbage pickup, Bailey was the primary author of posts on Moreno’s prominent Twitter account.
